Child Nutritionist
Child nutrition is getting proper focus in the development
discourse of Bangladesh. Studies suggest that interventions related to
Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) and Social Mobilisation are instrumental
in addressing malnutrition. To extending understanding of nutrition, Primary
School Forums were formed under an EU-funded
project titled ‘Food Security 2012 Bangladesh-Ujjibito’, implemented
by PKSF <www.pksf-bd.org>. These forums aim to improve their knowledge of
nutrition by establishing well-equipped nutritional corners. An independent
evaluation reveals that primary school students, most of whom are under 10, are
worked as ambassadors for promoting nutritional education at the family level.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that early orientation on nutrition has positive
effects on children’s later lives.
